Objective To investigate the changes and differences of the temperature of both hands in acute and convalescent stroke patients with hemiplegia. Methods Twenty-three cases of acute stroke, 33 cases of convalescence and 30 cases of normal control group were treated with the J42 far-infrared skin temperature feedback therapy instrument in the United States. Results In the acute stage of stroke, the temperature of hand and skin was higher than that of contralateral side. The temperature of hand and skin in convalescent group was lower than that of contralateral side. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P <0.001). Conclusions Different dermatological abnormalities occur in patients with stroke at different stages, which are considered to be related to the sympathetic skin reaction, reflex sympathetic dystrophy and the damage of the parietal cortex central nervous system.
