“新红宝”西瓜经乌鲁木齐市农场管理局农牧科技推广中心组织农场多年试种,其性状和经济效益较好。1991年元月中旬由乌鲁木齐市科委组织专家和科研人员鉴定和验收。 该品种是台湾培育的,1989年引入试种并经三坪农场进行大面积种植。它为早中熟品种,比红优二号西瓜早熟10—15天。座果率高,座果后瓜膨大快,座瓜整齐,果实较均匀。果皮鲜绿色,光滑坚韧,果椭圆形。果肉深红色,可食率67％左右。含糖量适中,多汁爽口,风味纯正,口感较好。中心折光糖含量为10.5％—11.3％,边糖含量7.8％—8.4％。不空心,不倒瓤,耐运输。种子细小,呈褐色。抗病性强,尤其抗枯萎病和白粉病。

Not hollow, do not fall 瓤, resistant to transport. Seeds small, brown. Disease resistance, especially resistance to Fusarium wilt and powdery mildew.
