鲁迅盛赞索洛古勃是“死的赞美者”。鲁迅本人亦如此。两人都乐观地直面死亡,都能从形而上的本体论层面对死亡进行表现和思考;都认为死亡是对恶的抗争与终结;都将“死”视为追求自由和创造新天地的工具,视为“爱”的等价物;均通过死亡仪式的描写,强化死亡深藏的意义与功能。两人也都认识到死亡的负面意义;都用死亡描述和概括自己所处的专制社会的状态。两者的不同主要表现在:索洛古勃的死亡观受到基督教和西方其他宗教及神话的深刻影响,鲁迅则更多地基于其生物学的人生观和进化论;索洛古勃对形而下的意义上的死亡的关注程度不如鲁迅;两人对待自杀的态度不同;在阐释死亡时对于先觉者与民众的关系的表现不同;探求死亡意义时彼岸此岸场域的立足不同;最大不同是鲁迅对于死亡始终持唯物主义的态度。鲁迅死亡观存在着形而上与形而下的二律背反,正因此,他超越了索洛古勃。
