The discovery of 2,6-dimethyl HIDA (hepatobiliary IDA) in 1975 established a new class of hepatobiliary imaging agents and added the importance of gall scintigraphy. This paper reports the preliminary relationship between hepatobiliary HIDA imaging agents and the simple structure-distribution relationship, and their application in the development of the third-generation HIDA.
