凡供公方身份作者使用的文种,称为公用文种。其中,可供各社会活动领域共用的公用文种谓之通用文种;仅供某一社会活动领域选用的公用文种谓之专用文种。供私方身份作者使用的文种,称为私用文种。我国学术界对古代文种的研究偏重于通用文种(包括古代的君命文种,上奏文种,官署间行移文种),对古代专用文种和私用文种的研究比较薄弱,这里笔者对我国古代的专用、私用文种作一简要介绍。
