目前国际上对性功能先天缺陷的研究集中在性染色体异常方面,原因很简单,因为人的性别由性染色体的类型决定,对于性功能以及性器官的研究,自然首先关注性染色体。专家提示,在有Y染色体存在时,原始性腺在胚胎发育第7周时分化发育为睾丸;如果没有Y染色体存在,约在13周左右,原始性腺自然地分化为卵巢。这正说明性器官分化发育完全取决于性染色体,一旦性染色体发生异常,会造成性器官分化发育异常,性功能先天缺陷。
