Carbamazepine (Tegretol, CBZ for short) has the chemical name carbamoyl dibenzazepine, a derivative obtained by Schindler in 1953 for the synthesis of the antidepressant imipramine. Hernandez-Poen, Lorge and Bonduelle reported for the first time in animal experiments and clinical trials of CBZ anti-epileptic effects at the Third International Congress of Neuropsychopharmacology held in Munich, Germany in 1962. At the same time, Blom also began to apply it to treat trigeminal neuralgia, and achieved satisfactory results. Followed by the gradual promotion and application of hospitals in Europe and the United States in 1974 by the US Food and Drug Administration formally approved. Our country passed the appraisal in 1978 and started to apply to the clinic. At present, the drug has been widely used in 150 countries and regions in the world.
