The Second Lecture The Main Materia Medica Book Review (2) The “Compendium of Materia Medica” is the 390th anniversary of the death of Li Shizhen. His outstanding contribution to traditional Chinese medicine will always be respected by future generations. When Li Shizhen wrote this book, there was an important guiding ideology that the preparation of Materia Medica should be “read more about it” so as to avoid the loss of many drugs. Therefore, it took 27 years for him to “scrutinize and mingle,” and collect books to compile such a kind of 1892 drugs (according to Shi Zhen claiming to be 1897 kinds of actual statistics), and more than 190,000 words of pharmaceutical giant works. There are nearly 800 references that Li Shizhen has read. He is not satisfied with the old herbal medicine listed in the data.
