The laser-generated sound is one of the possible ways to communicate remotely over the surface and underwater. Intensity changes over time in the laser beam from the water and a layer of water near the water surface interaction, will produce sound waves and continue to spread in the water. Laser-generated sound has been used in many fields over the past 25 years but generally does not include producing acoustic signals that are receivable at 1 km or more. Earlier studies have shown that for mid-range communications, the light-to-sound conversion efficiency is far from enough. However, some research groups in Moscow are actively studying the mechanism of photoacoustic conversion and come up with new concepts in the feasibility of long-distance air-sea communication.
