This paper presents the results of a study on the most cost-effective material for a simplified liner of a large-diameter gravel mill equipped with lifting bars. The study is part of a research project at Fondation Goldfinger, East Delhi, South Africa. It has been found that manganese and chrome steel liners are more cost-effective than soft-cast steel and white iron liners.
