旅行途中,吃、住、行三件事缺一不可,不管是繁华街区的超豪华酒店,还是巷陌深处的民家客栈,说到底是为了能踏踏实实睡上一觉,恢复体力继续下一段行程。中国是最早出现旅馆的国家之一,据史料记载,为旅行者提供住宿的服务设施可以追溯到春秋战国时期。近代以前,旅馆的形态主要为客栈、驿站、旅店等传统住宿设施,大部分规模较小,提供的服务有限。19世纪以来,随着外国资本进入中国,为了满足入境商旅的住宿、社交、娱乐、会议等需求,由外国人兴建和经营的西式饭店在广州、上海、北京、天津等地陆续出现,客观上也促进了中国近代旅馆业的发展。
