濮阳,是个令人陌生而又熟悉的名字。谈起陌生,濮阳建市三十多年来,还不太为人们所熟知,讲起熟悉,“濮阳”又多见于古典文献。《史记·卫世家》记载:濮阳之名最早始于公元前320年,因位于濮水之北有濮阳之称。秦始皇废分封,置郡县,濮阳始得县名。濮阳还是著名的古战场。陈毅元帅于1945年9月过濮时赋诗一首《月下与人谈毛主席飞渝事》:我行未已过濮阳,驻马凭吊古战场,能掷孤注寇莱好,退避三舍晋文强,应知政事先军旅,岂有筑室谋道旁,夜坐对月秋萧瑟,白杨千株放光芒。这里面就讲到了澶渊之盟和晋楚城濮之战(一次以少胜多,以弱胜强的著名战例)。濮阳还是革命老区,这里有刘邓大军渡河处,有华东野战军司令部旧址。
