This paper regards the late Tang and the Five Dynasties to the early Northern Song Dynasty as a historical unit, attempting to examine the transformation and re-establishment of physician status in the interaction and transformation of multiple medical knowledge groups in this era. From the middle and late Tang to the Five Dynasties, the identity of the medical practitioners established by the state medical education institutions was faced with dislocation and confusion. The groups originally excluded from these identities were also involved in the process of dislocation and confusion as the process of identity reshaping Part of the original knowledge of the border also means a breakthrough. In the process of reconstructing the Northern Song Dynasty, the key to medical identity is how to reshape the medical status through official medical education and how to rebuild the examination of medical officers within the bureaucratic system. This eventually reshaped the medical officer’s identity in this era, and a new picture of knowledge gradually emerged from different knowledge traditions.
