监利秧田号子“啰啰咚”是国家第二批公布的非物质文化遗产名录项目。监利位于湖北省南部,东临洪湖,南濒长江,属“云梦古泽”的一部分,地形南北部比较高,中间属于四湖洼地,盛产水稻。监利自古属江汉楚地,尚楚风,作楚声,流传着具有山歌风味的秧田号子“啰啰咚”。《楚词韵语》载:“诗三百篇无楚风,然江汉间皆为楚地,文王化行南国,汉广《江有汜》列于南(周南、昭南),乃居十五《国风》之先,楚实为《国风》之首也。”
