As we all know, economic development is the prerequisite for the formation of the art market. Specifically, economic development shows two aspects. One is the improvement of production efficiency. As a result, people spend relatively less leisure time, which gives the public more time to pay attention to artworks. Second, raising the income level provides an economic guarantee for the consumption of art products. The higher the income level, the higher the consumer demand for art products, the greater the consumption. In the following, we analyze the relationship between the development of the art market and the economic development from the perspectives of GDP per capita, the Engel coefficient and the status of the middle class.
