INTRODUCTION A large amount of analytical work has been done on the D / H values of hydrogen-containing salts, whether synthesized in the laboratory or collected from Searles Lake, California, and it is generally accepted that D / H values can be used as geology thermometer. Although the analysis of research data have been explained, but there are some pending issues in the interpretation process. It is obviously necessary to collect more background information and further study. We first studied the form of D / H values of natural waters in the Sears supply area during the Quaternary period. Later, we investigated the isotopic evolution of salt sedimentary basins. These works provide new information for explaining the salt deposition mechanism, but some difficult problems still exist. The hypothesis presented in this paper not only solves these difficult problems, but also points out readers the possible economic value of such assumptions.
