泰国国土面积514,000平方公里,森林面积200,000平方公里,占国土面积的39%。森林面积中170,000平方公里为可伐林,而红树林为287,000公顷,占森林总面积的1.43%。泰国森林面积在近20年来减少800公顷,约占14%。红树林也不例外,由于各种开发,使其急剧减少,成为有待解决的问题。笔者有机会参加东京农业大学综合研究所杉二郎博士率领的调查团,于1981年和1984年两次约四个月的时间调查了泰国的红树林。现将收集的资料及调查结果介绍如下:
Thailand has an area of 514,000 square kilometers and a forest area of 200,000 square kilometers, accounting for 39% of the country’s territory. Of the forest area, 170,000 square kilometers are forkelling forest, while mangroves are 287,000 hectares, accounting for 1.43% of the total forest area. Thailand’s forest area decreased by 800 hectares in the last 20 years, accounting for about 14%. Mangroves are no exception, due to a variety of development, to make it drastically reduced, has become a problem to be solved. The author had the opportunity to participate in a survey team led by Dr Sugiriro, General Research Institute of Tokyo Agricultural University, and surveyed Thailand’s mangroves twice in 1981 and 1984.
