In this paper, A302B ferritic pressure vessel steel room temperature test specimen microscope analysis to describe the material fracture process and to determine its relationship with the fatigue crack growth data. Fracture specimens were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electrophotography and X-ray powder analysis. Scanning electron microscopy of the cross-section of the specimen cut in the T-L direction revealed the presence of inclusions bands above the observed ΔK cutback. Subsequent X-ray image scans and the corresponding spectra showed that the band was manganese sulfide inclusions.
