国际地理联合会亚太区域会议于1990年8月13日至20日在北京举行。来自全世界主要是亚洲太平洋地区40多个国家的900多人参加了会议。这是中国地理学会受国际地理联合会委托,主办的第一次也是迄今为止规模最大的一次地理盛会。 中国地理学会自1986年恢复在国际地理联合会的合法席位并承担举办亚太区域会议以来,动员全国地理界力量进行了近4年紧张而周密的准备工作。
The Asia Pacific Regional Meeting of the International Geographical Union was held in Beijing from August 13 to 20, 1990. More than 900 people from over 40 countries in the world, mainly the Asia Pacific region, attended the meeting. This is the first time China Society of Geography, commissioned by the International Geographical Union, hosted the first ever geographical event to date. Since 1986, when the Chinese Geographical Society resumed its legal seat at the International Geographical Union and assumed the responsibility of organizing the Asia-Pacific regional conference, it has conducted intense and careful preparatory work for nearly four years in mobilizing forces across the country.
