英语是世界上词汇量最大的语言,但在其漫长的形成过程中,有很多规律.要是能掌握些规律,对于英语学习者去理解和使用它们来说,是有很大的帮助的.本文拟从英语专有名词普通化这一方面,谈谈我的一些拙知浅见,以求正于方家.英语中不少普通名词是由专有名词演变而来,这个过程称为换称(antonomasia)即词原先为专有名词的指称转为普通名词的指称.如(braille)盲文一词原是法国人布莱叶(Louis Braille)的姓氏,他在三岁时双目失明,一度专攻音乐,1826年起为盲人教书,1829年创造了一种供盲人书写,
