Currently, there are many diatom indexes for water environment monitoring that based on species, abumdance, diversity of diatoms, but the index based on physiological characteristics of diatoms are rarely reported.During toxicology tests, the author fmd that the moving speed of diatoms would be slow and the percent of moving diatoms in all diatoms would be declined at the stress in Cr2+ and stress in glyphosate in different time and same consistency, although speed would be slow and the percentage have no obvious rule in the same time at different consistency. So the moving situation of diatoms may become a new way to monitor the water environment when we pull-in the comparation.Additionally some new experimental methods that based on characteristics of benthic diatoms will also be introduced.
