  This paper presents an approximate inversion of a full range stress-strain relation for stainless steel alloys.It is well established that,for stress levels below the yield stress value,the stress-strain behaviour of most metals is described by the Ramberg-Osgood relation:ε =σ/E0+εpp{σ/σp}n,where n represents a nonlinearity index,E0 is the Young modulus,σp is the equivalent yield stress called the proof stress corresponding to a plastic strain level of εpp.However,for stress levels above the yield point,the Ramberg-Osgood relation tends to highly overestimate the stress.Recently,Rasmussen [1] proposed the following modified version of the Ramberg-Osgood relation,which agrees well with the experimental stress-strain curves for the full-range of stress values up to the ultimate stress σu.
