对于守旧的女性价值观,契诃夫可以说是唾弃的,他的作品揭露出当时女性存在的病态理念,并含蓄地指出女性存在的愚昧、无知、没有地位、软弱等弱点。他向往平等互助的、男女公平的社会,他为每一位醒悟的女性而呐喊,他欣赏每一位有主见的女性,引导她们为新的生活而抗争,鼓励她们参与到群众中,真正地为自己活着。向陈旧封建的女性观宣战并不是契诃夫突然形成的,也不是他内心固有的,而是他在长期的生活过程中所看到的以及在思想斗争不断的情况下形成的。
Chekhov can be said to be unscrupulous for conservative women’s values.
