On 1 June 2015, Cepsa, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Investment Company, said it has completed the sale of its PTA plant in Montreal, Thailand, to Indorama Ventures in Thailand. The sale was first announced in March and has been approved by competition authorities. Through this acquisition, Indorama became an integrated producer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins in North America. Indorama, a world leader in polyester production, acquired a strong presence in the North American market. Indorama consumes about 1.1 million t / a PTA in North America for the production of PET. Cepsa’s petrochemical focus is on the market
