江西省煤炭矿业公司所属的丰城矿务局建新煤矿,现有职工4000多人,是一家设备优良、机械化程度高的大型国有煤矿,有中国“江南第一煤矿”之称。然而,11月14日上午1时45分,这座国有大矿的1010号工作面突然发生瓦斯爆炸,爆炸后形成的强大冲击波导致井下塌陷,封住出口,造成井下作业矿工49人遇难。在事发现场上方的矿工受爆炸冲击,导致2人重伤,5人轻伤。
