Spectral properties of Er3+-doped aluminium fluorophosphate glasses are experimentally investigated and calculated. The full width at half maximum is 53nm and the emission cross section is 0.6 × 10-20 cm2. The measured lifetime of the 4I13/2 level is 8 ± 0.4ms and the temperature difference is about 160℃. These parameters are comparable with those in other glasses, which indicates that Era+-doped aluminium fluorophosphates glass is a promising material for Er3+ to realize broadband amplification.
