大钢,在我国通常是指年产钢100万吨以上的钢铁厂或产钢基地。目前,我国有这样的企业和基地共12个。按照1988年这些企业的钢产量来排列,是鞍钢、上冶(不包括宝钢)、武钢、首钢、宝钢、包钢、本钢、攀钢、马钢、太钢、天冶(天津各钢厂)和唐钢。这十二钢,1988年共产钢3687.5万吨,占全国钢产量5943万吨的62.05％,实现利税110.77亿元,占全国钢铁工业实现利税191.96亿元的57.7％。另外,这些企业产品质量较好,国内钢材名优产品,大多数集中在这些企业。在国内这些企业的技术和管理水平;相对来说比较先进,人才也比较集中,所以,这12个大钢,在钢铁战线上起着骨干、主导和辐射的作用。
