毛果芸香硷治疗青光眼业已百年以上,疗效是肯定的,但尚有一些副作用,如引起瞳孔缩小、晶体混浊、睫状体痉挛与屈光改变。且需频繁点眼,甚为不便。虽然这些副作用是由于毛果芸香硷的药物基本结构所致,但大量给药和一级释药的速率都可使副作用现象加重。所以,为减少副作用就必须发展一种不同方式的给药系统和释药速率。吸药的软接触镜、吸药小棒及微型药泵等都不理想。而毛果芸香硷药膜(Ocusert)的释药速率则比较满意。本文即讨论其物理特性及其与滴剂药物作用的比较。毛果芸香硷药膜是一个5.5 x 13.2mm的卵圆形厚0.2-0.3mm的薄片,中间为含毛果芸香
