2003年11月29日,中国当代经济学家、北京大学教授萧灼基应信息时报社、2003’中国(广州)住宅产业交易会(简称“住交会”)组委会的邀请,在广州珠岛宾馆大会堂,就当前经济热点问题作了一场专题报告会。在报告会上,包括广州50多个房地产发展商负责人在内共200多人共聚一堂,认真聆听了萧教授的精彩演讲。报告会后,萧灼基教授还对由信息时报主办的“住交会”寄予了厚望,认为“住交会”能提高广州房地产的开发和服务水平,使买方卖方市场变得更加理性和成熟,特别是对“住交会”不收任何费用的“地产奥斯卡”评奖给予很高评价。萧灼基教授在报告会上谈及了当前数个经济热点,并提前向广州经济界透露出一些信息,主要概括有4个“不要轻言”。
