在电子科技大学提起张煦老师,中、青年人大都觉得陌生,可是在老一代教职员工中,却长期在怀念着他,称颂他的学识和为人,认为他无私无怨、呕心沥血、教书育人的高尚品格是教育工作者的楷模。张煦老师1913年出生于江苏无锡,1934年毕业于上海交通大学,与钱学森、朱兰成、张光斗等国际、国内著名科学家是同级学友。他在1936年考取清华公费留美,在哈佛大学和麻省理工学院(MIT)攻读学位,1940年获哈佛大学科学博士学
