Objective: To evaluate the ratio of open cerebrospinal fluid open pressure in patients with spontaneous intracranial hypertension (SIH) and to investigate the influencing factors of cerebrospinal fluid open pressure in patients with SIH. Innovative point: The high proportion of open cerebrospinal fluid open pressure in patients with SIH was confirmed by large sample size cases and further revealed a significant association of body mass index and duration of symptoms with open cerebrospinal fluid pressure. Methods: A retrospective review of 206 cases of SIH diagnosed in our hospital collected demographic information, body mass index, duration of symptoms, imaging findings and other data. Univariate and multivariate analyzes identified potential factors that influence CSF open pressure. Conclusion: This study further confirms that open cerebrospinal fluid pressure is not uncommon in patients with SIH, especially those who are obese and have long duration of symptoms. In addition to the body mass index and the duration of the symptoms, there are still other unidentified factors that affect the magnitude of cerebrospinal fluid open pressure in SIH patients.
