2003年,山东蒙阴县果树良种苗木繁育中心从绿化9号生产园中发现不溶质硬肉桃优良单株变异,定名晚9号。2003～2004年采集母本树接穗进行高接和苗木嫁接隔离,完成品系初选,2005～2007年在蒙阴、莱芜、枣庄和龙口多个自然区栽植苗木建园进行生产试验和区域试验,完成品种复选和决选,2007年8月15日通过专家验收,12月5日通过临沂市科技局组织的专家鉴定。
