农业的持续增长,越来越多地取决于科技进步,特别是取决于先进适用技术的推广应用。农业部在1997年推出的10大技术是: 1.水稻旱育稀植及抛秧技术,今年新推广5000万亩。2.小麦精播半精播技术,今年计划推广2000万亩。3.地膜玉米。今年计划推广500万亩。4.紧凑型玉米及配套技术,今年计划在全国扩大1000万亩。5.小麦全生育期地膜覆盖栽培技术,今年各地计划发展到300万亩。6.南方玉米开发,今年在去年208万亩基础上再扩大600万亩。7.黄淮江汉地区多熟种植技术,今年计划在部分省示范推广153万亩。8.棉花双早双高栽培技术,计划今年新推广2000万亩。9.杂交双低优质油菜及配套技术,今年计划在去年的800万亩基础上,推广到1200万亩。10.南方设施蔬菜多样化生产新技术,今年计划推广100万亩。
