Case 20 - Timely price cuts to lift the threat The US INTEL Corporation is the only company in the world that monopolizes the CPU of key microcomputer chips. In early 1991, AMD began to introduce similar CPU chips to the market, which poses a potential threat to INTEL. INTEL Corporation adopted the strategy of slashing prices and rejected AMD’s CPU chips in the blue shake, thus lifting the competitive threat in one fell swoop.
