The town border army was formed by the Heilongjiang general Erkhintha in the late Qing Dynasty and was mainly armed with local children in Heilongjiang province who had been reformed by the Eight-flag children. They participated in the Sino-Japanese War of 18th Sino-Japanese War and the Battle of Gengzi against Russia.
