Although many studies have been conducted on the fibrosis process of silicosis, its mechanism has not yet been fully elucidated. Now based on the papers reported in the Fifth Symposium on Inhalation Dusts held in Cardiff, England in September 1980, and with reference to some documents, the current research on this issue is reviewed.
