Sichuan is one of the six provinces with the most arduous task of lifting off poverty in the country. By the end of 2013, there were 88 poverty-stricken counties, 11501 impoverished villages and 6.25 million impoverished people. The incidence of poverty was 9.6%. The poverty scale was large, the scope was deep, and the task of fighting off poverty was extremely arduous.
