Preface HMD prototypes often have undesirable characteristics that can cause disorientation (such as severe reflections, lag in video scanning, and unclear images). These problems can be worse when the test flight is restricted for safety reasons during the day. This article assesses several improvements. Method The initial Test Pilot (TP) survey highlighted major deficiencies. Manufacture and equip the airbag “head bag” with a blue filter and attach the amber filter to the windshield screen. Test the comfort, ventilation and visual features of this device. As a result, the function of the first bag without windows worked well, but the test pilots complained of a sense of “detachment” and “loneliness.” The color filter system provides the subject with an in-cabin vision without significant impairment to the pilot’s color perception.
