从东风8型机车前万向轴的惯性断裂问题出发，在东风8、东风4型机车前万向轴系扭振对比测试分析的基础上，运用前万向轴系扭振简化模型，进行了理论结合实测数据的分析计算，发现前万向轴早期失效的共振原因，确定了改善轴系扭振的弹性橡胶联轴节。
