目前,汽车钢板弹簧大多采用硅锰钢,但其淬透性能不够高,脱炭倾向大,晶粒易于粗化以及产生石墨化等缺点,因而还不能完全满足汽车的要求,影响弹簧的制造和使用寿命。为此,第二汽车制造厂曾与有关单位协作,研制成功了55SiMnVB单面双槽扁钢。通过一系列性能、台架和装车使用等试验,结果表明性能和寿命很好,可满足中型载重汽车的要求,并已大量用于制造钢板弹簧。目前由于钒供应紧张,提倡节约使用,需要寻找节省钒的途径。作为一种过渡措施,试验用钛代钒和不用钒的钢,但在性能上要求比硅锰钢(55Si2Mn、60Si2Mn)优越,达到55SiMnVB钢的水平.
