The use of IVIg to reduce LPS-induced fever in rabbits has been reported. In those earlier studies, IVIg injection prior to LPS had a more pronounced relief from the second highest temperature of the second pyrogen reaction. The question raised is whether IVIg inhibits the effects of bacterial LPS in pharmaceutical pyrogen tests. This study chose a LPS dose (20 EU / kg, horse-drawn Salmonella or E. coli), which is equivalent to the dose of animals that did not undergo the hyperthermophication test to produce significant temperature increases. LPS was added to different IVIg formulations (3ml plus 150mg) and injected into the rabbit ear vein as in the drug test. After injection, the temperature was recorded for 5 hours and the same LPS dose was added to the saline or 150 mg albumin was added for injection. Made with intact IgG molecules
