邵东县地处湖南省中部,总面积1768平方公里,2005年末总人口118万,全年GDP达91．0亿元。邵东人发扬“团结拼搏、艰苦创业、务实开拓、敢为人先”的邵东精神,大力实施“兴商建县”、“民营主体”、“兴工强县”的发展战略,国民经济和各项社会事业蓬勃发展。该县先后被确定为湖南省唯一的民营经济改革与发展试验区、全省综合改革试点县、全省农村专业批发市场改革试点县。
