Most cultivars of Sasamum imdicum L. are susceptible to pests and diseases. It has been found that many available wild relatives have valuable traits such as insect resistance, disease resistance and drought resistance. Due to the barrier of interspecific hybridization, all attempts to cross the cultivated species with wild species have not been completely successful. Hybrid embryo culture is an important barrier to overcome crosses
