The latest guidelines from the American Heart Association (AHA) point out that women can prevent heart attacks and strokes. Based on this latest information and because 60% of U.S. women now know that heart disease is their # 1 health threat, the AHA is launching an ambitious prevention program. The program is being performed by a panel of experts led by Presbyterian Hospital in New York and Lori Mosca, MD, of the University of Columbia Center for Cardiology. Cardiovascular disease refers to diseases that affect the heart and blood vessels, including stroke: Women in AHA Heart prevention strategies have three main elements: a healthy lifestyle, presenting important cardiac risk factors, and using appropriate medications.
