眼下,内蒙古北方重工业集团有限公司(简称“北方重工集团”)步入了发展的新阶段。公司经济总量由2003年的14亿元增长到2010年的103亿元。提起公司的快速发展,不得不提起一个人,那就是公司副总经理、重大项目办主任雷丙旺。他带领北方重工集团研制成功了世界首台首套3.6万吨黑色金属垂直挤压机(简称360项目),使我国大口径厚壁无缝钢管制造技术获得重大突破,因此中国第一次进入世界耐高温高压厚壁成型材料的“极端制造”领域。
