我做梦都没想到我和同事辛西娅·比尔(Cynthia Beall)博士会成为首批获准进入西藏进行深入田野调察的西方人类学家和藏学家。梦想成真我对藏语和藏文化的研究始于1960年。之后,我游历印度和尼泊尔的许多藏民生活居住的地方。随着我对相关领域的兴趣日增,这些地方能提供给我的研究素材也渐显匮乏。就像其他藏学家一样,我梦想着能有一天进入中国的藏区,但是这个梦想因为当时中国的形势而缥缈无踪。
I never dreamed that Dr. Cynthia Beall and my colleague Dr. Cynthia Beall would become the first Western anthropologists and Tibetan collectors allowed to go to Tibet for field investigations. Dream come true My study of Tibetan and Tibetan culture began in 1960. After that, I traveled to places where many Tibetans living in India and Nepal live. As my interest in related fields has increased, so has the research material available to me in these places. Like other Tibetologists, I dreamed of one day entering the Tibetan areas of China, but this dream was lost because of the situation in China at that time.
