长达427公里的泉州市海岸线,曾见证“东方第一大港”的兴衰。在当今建设海峡西岸经济区的大潮声中,昔日“东方第一大港”如何重振雄风？发人深省。 泉州港现有4湾16个港区,现有码头32座,泊位44个,其中万吨级以上10个,年设计吞吐能力1800万吨。此外,还有民建民营小型地方码头泊位29个。湄洲湾南岸港区的肖厝作业区和泉州湾后渚作业区是国家一类口岸,增长较快的石湖作业区名列全国内贸集装箱中转港第3位。
