India has a huge natural resources, rich and colorful mineral resources. Some metal and non-metallic minerals are abundant. Among them, non-metallic minerals such as coal, limestone, mica and barite are abundant while asbestos reserves are low. Mineral production increased from Rs 650 crore to Rs 6,702 crore from 1947 to 1983. Exports of minerals also increased, with an export value of 23.79 billion rupees in 1983. The import value is about 50.71 billion rupees. Comparing non-metallic mineral prices imported from India with fuels and metal minerals, the value of non-metallic minerals was Rs 4,754 million, fuel oil at Rs 5,851 crores and metal minerals at Rs 3,746 crores. The largest users of limestone cement plants, steel mills, chemical plants, respectively, as the basic raw materials, flux materials and limestone. Limestone is also heavily used in bauxite smelters, glass, sugar and textile industries. Limestone production from 511 mines in 1983 reached 38.3 million tonnes, valued at Rs.1173 crore. In 1982, the total consumption of various industries was about 33 million tons, while the export of 19,500 tons, the value of 5.34 million rupees. Barite reserves in India are large. And mainly in Andhra Pradesh. Barite is used in well drilling, chemical, paint, asbestos, glass and rubber industries. In 1983 to spar production 325,000 tons, the value of more than 55,800,000 rubles, exports 180,000 tons, revenue 96,000,000 rupees. India produces premium talc, most of which is used in the cosmetics industry as well as in the coinage and rubber industries as fillers. Estimated reserves of 58.2 million tons. Production exceeded 281,000 tons in 1983, with an export volume of 9,500 tons and a revenue of 9.6 million rupees. Asbestos reserves are small, but long fibers are exported, while staple fibers are consumed in India. In 1983, the production volume exceeded 24,700 tons, exports more than 300 tons, received 1 million rupees. Asbestos - the cement industry is the main user, followed by coatings and refractory industry.
