Higher fungi contain a number of novel secondary metabolites of the structural backbone, some of which exhibit significant biological activity, are potential treasure-houses of new natural active products and have great potential for development and utilization. The authors review in detail the recent research advances in the structure and bioactivity of higher fungal diterpene compounds and their biosynthesis in recent decades.
