Objective To understand the development and change of sleep / wake pattern during infancy. Methods A sleep activity recorder, Actiwatch (referred to as the watch), was used to monitor 50 infant sleep / wake patterns. A total of 9 family visits followed by births d10, d28, and from Tuesday to Friday in the first week of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th and 12th months of each survey were conducted for about 60 h . The trend of monthly variation in the age distribution of important daytime wakefulness, continuous sleep time, number of sleeps, sleep rate and other important parameters was analyzed using two-level mixed models. Results A total of 47 healthy term infants completed the study. The longest continuous daytime sleep time was reduced from 241 min to 115 min from day 10 to 12 months. The daytime sleep rate was reduced from 68.22% to 19.39% Awakening time increased from 114 min to 318.5 min. The number of sleep during the day reduced from 4 times 28 days after birth to 12 months 12 months. The number of sleep during the day, the longest and average continuous sleep time, the proportion of sleep decreased with increasing age (P <0.01). The longest, shortest and mean continuous awakenings during the day increased with the increase of age (P <0.01). Conclusion The development of daytime sleep / wake patterns of 10 d to 12 months old babies born in Chongqing city is obvious. With the increase of daytime, the percentage of daytime sleep decreases obviously with the increase of daytime, and the change is most rapid in February.
